In order to obtain IgA of IgG antibody test all you need is a simple blood test. From previous reading from the posts IgA and IgG are time sensitive. IgA is a present. IgG is historical (anyone please correct me if I am wrong). As for insurance, if your plan covers the test it should.
The only problem is that IgG or IgA does denote that your system is fighting an antigen. Unfortunately it does not tell what you are allergic too.
As far as your current situation, I would definitely keep a food diary, Not only do you have to know what food you are eating but how it was prepared.
Because als alluded to in the previous post you can have different reactions from the same food that is prepared differently. My example would be Applebee's. I ate a grilled chicken from this restaruant and about 30 minutes later I was very very ill. I found out later that in preparation of cooking this chicken the, breast is soaked in a bath with a butter or milk base, ,being lactose intolerant this was the problem. So now I go to a butcher.
The best bet especially in being proactive, is to list all the foods and drink you have eaten. because of time delay effect of IBS you can get responses sometimes hours later.
As far as the rice is concerned is it normal minute rice or an actual species, basmati, jasmine, sweet rice, etc. How was it prepared, i.e. risotto has a lot of butter and cream.
Good Luck
