Question test to identify food sensitivities?

I have read that there is a test called an IgG antibody test that will detect food sensitivities in the gut. Has anyone had this? Are the results reliable? Did your insurance cover the test?
basically, any info would be appreciated, I truely think a large part of my IBS problems are food related. I had an episode last night after eating rice (of all things), and thinking back at past episodes, rice has been involved. I would however like a firm diagnostic result on whether or not rice is my problem.
Anyone familiar with this?
TIA

There is a rotation diet where you eliminate a food for 4 days then re-introduce it and determine effects. I used it for 2 months to determine my food sensitivities.

I found that certain brands of boneless chicken breast gives me headaches and others don't. I tried 10 different brands of chicken. Where I live, rice is a daily stable--- it's very unusual for a person to get into problems with it but as you know we are all different.

In order to obtain IgA of IgG antibody test all you need is a simple blood test. From previous reading from the posts IgA and IgG are time sensitive. IgA is a present. IgG is historical (anyone please correct me if I am wrong). As for insurance, if your plan covers the test it should.
The only problem is that IgG or IgA does denote that your system is fighting an antigen. Unfortunately it does not tell what you are allergic too.
As far as your current situation, I would definitely keep a food diary, Not only do you have to know what food you are eating but how it was prepared.
Because als alluded to in the previous post you can have different reactions from the same food that is prepared differently. My example would be Applebee's. I ate a grilled chicken from this restaruant and about 30 minutes later I was very very ill. I found out later that in preparation of cooking this chicken the, breast is soaked in a bath with a butter or milk base, ,being lactose intolerant this was the problem. So now I go to a butcher.

The best bet especially in being proactive, is to list all the foods and drink you have eaten. because of time delay effect of IBS you can get responses sometimes hours later.

As far as the rice is concerned is it normal minute rice or an actual species, basmati, jasmine, sweet rice, etc. How was it prepared, i.e. risotto has a lot of butter and cream.

Good Luck

I have had the igG and igA and other tests, because I am extremely sensitive to food. I was certain that I have some type of food allergy, since I get rashes after I eat, have extreme digestive problems, and can hardly eat anything anymore. All the tests I had done (I was also tested for specific foods of at least 15 types, including gluten, nuts) came out negative. I couldn't believe it. I have an HMO, called them before I went to the allergist, and they told me that the tests were covered. (The lab bill came to approximately $500, which the insurance covered). Just because my tests came out negative, it doesn't mean that yours will, too. I am glad that I have ruled it out. Now I am looking for another cause of my ailments.
