this is so pathetic ,im ready to blow my brains out. I have been eating correctly and drinking correct amounts, been taking metamucil, and i run 2 miles every day for exercise and i ALWAYS get backed up, everything does not work, not prune juice, and not and taking in tons of fiber cause i get plenty of it. Im wondering if there is another solution, can i go to a doctor and is there perscription pills for my prob. that will slowly guide my colon to normal, cause if this keeps up im contemplating suicide, im always filled with bowel, im always in a bad mood, and i cant even enjoy life, and i never get stools, they always come out as pebbles, please people, dont tell me i need more water, drink prune juice, exercise, etc., im sick of hearing it cause it just doesnt work for me and im only 15 years old, i feel terrible, i dont know any of my friends that even remotley have this prob.<p>[This message has been edited by moderator3 (edited 05-10-2002).]
I'm really sorry your so backed up. And I know about the discouragment that this situation can bring, I will be praying for a breakthrough for you, count on it!! In the meantime ask your Doc if he can locate a research clinic nearby that could maybe take you in.
At least there they can try some of the new meds. that are showing promise, Zelnorm for one very high tech. with lots of promise. GWG
It can be corrected and not worth killing yourself over. Ask your mother to take you to the dr. They may need to run a few tests. You may feel embarrassed about approaching your mother or father with this, but remember, they are there to help you.
Don't despair. Unfortunately, however there is no magic pill out there that you can 'pop' to cure your bowels just like that. If only life were that simple. You need to keep working at it.
Keep on taking the Metamucil and drinking plenty of fluid. Carry on drinking the prune juice, eating a good all round diet and taking regular exercise. Also, consider adding in life yogurt or Acidophilis caps to put more good bacteria into your gut. This can also help constipation.
Have you tried massaging your belly? This sometimes helps to reduce any pain if you have it and can help stimulate your gut to work
If you still cannot go, then use some glycerine suppositories. These are natural. If you are still getting backed up and cannot go after this, then try a baking soda enema. This may help get your bowels going and keep them working.
Do not use laxatives though as these will make your colon lax and in the long run will create more problems than it solves.
Try some relaxation techniques too as this can help. Deep breathing exercises from your belly.
I keep hearing everyone telling others to take more fiber and there are all these people on the boards taking more fiber and being even more plugged up! Did you know that taking more fiber will PLUG YOU UP if you are not drinking enough water? a minimum of AT least A GALLON a day would be good! If you work out alot you need even MORE water! (just drinking a large amount of water all in one sitting will frequently produce a nice big BM, something you all seem to long for.) A good herbal laxative is good to get you going temporarily until your body is working on it's own. YOur diet needs to consist of primarily Fruits and Veggies, Whole live grains- sprouted, raw or softened overnight in hot water- stay away from flour products especially White refined flour. Refined sugar is Baaad. No dairy, no red meat/pork, very little poultry/fish if any. We get PLENTY of protien without eating any meat at all. (I do eat meat but have been losing my taste for it over time... the more research I do on the topic the less important it seems)
If you are plugged up don't expect to be able to wave a magic fruit wand and have everything be okay in the morning- it took alot of years for you to get that way and so it is going to take some time and dedication to undo it all. Just like a car that hasn't been driven in years, your colon is going to make a fuss when you want it to start up again. you need to start doing some research elsewhere on the internet- and don't expect someone who has the same problem as you to have the answers- unless they have fully recovered. you need to find someone who has what you want and ask THEM how they got there! However, you are on the right track because at least you are out there asking questions.
