Hey everyuone...a quick question. Well, atly I have felt a kind of cramping after I poo. It felt a bit like menstral cramping...and then I decided it probably wasn't. Anyhoo, for IBS'rs, can you have cramping with constipation? (I have been a little latly...gosh, feels so weird talking about this stuff!)

Hi China,
Good to hear from you on this board!!!It's not like talking about your soul.
Gee---Bowel Problems is what we talk about HERE. Yes---you can get cramping after you have a bowel movement and it's not that uncommon. As your colon has contractions more of your feces moves during a BM to take it's place in your colon and at times it can result in pain as well as cramping.
The best think is to start takng a water soluble fiber supplement like Metamucil or Citrucel. Both are bulk stool forming agents and safe to take daily---just drink enough water. At your age you might as well start taking this and never but never allow yourself to become constipated. It will just cause you all sorts of problems later in life and you might as well start NOW!!!
God Bless You---Harry
[This message has been edited by Harry (edited 10-22-2001).]
heee....me and my soul stuff! Thanx...I think it is my IBS, I just wasn't sure. Makes sence though, since I havn't started taking metamicil yet. I should really do that, but I'm a little nervous to try it. I'm one of those people who get nervous just by taking a pain killer...really cautious of any kind of medicine.
