Advice - New IBS Patient

Have had mild IBS for a small period of time...mostly cramping and abdominal bloating. Last week I was constipated for a week, now this week I'm having D. I havn't taken a laxative or anything, so I don't know why all of a sudden it's coming out like this. Slight nausea too when my tummy is upset. Any advice as to what to take, avoid, etc. I just don't want this once minor problem to get worse.

Re: Advice - New IBS Patient

First off, I would make an appt with my DR, you need to be evaluated. D can be caused from foods and or stress. Have you been stressed recently??? Has your eating habits changed? You must go to Dr to elimnate anything else that could be causing it. Also I would say take Immodium for the D but if you were constipated before, I would wait and see the Dr. I learned quickly that stress and bad eating habits cause my IBS and I have corrected it. I worry less and eat better. I have certain trigger foods I avoid, like hot stuff and greasy stuff. The hot is the worse.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!

Re: Advice - New IBS Patient

I have nausea and upper abdominal pain especially after I eat. Since mid 2000 I have had fecal tests colonosopy, Endoscopy(x2), Abdominal ct scan, Upper Gi(x2 over a year)blood bee diagnosed with work and numerous ultrasounds. The only thing I have is Gerd and 2 duodenal ulcers which were caused by h pylori and have been eradicated. I had a second endoscope 3 months ago which was all clear. I hate the pain and especially the nausea so I can sympathize. My doc says now i have IBS and gerd which together cause abdominal pain and nausea, this really sucks!
