Lately I've been dealing with back pain. I know it is associated with IBS, and I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this: What I can do? Are there any medications for this pain? It feels like a stabbing pain--a pinching--on my right side, right above my butt. When you push on the area, it's incredibly sensitive and it hurts. Often it travels down my right leg, and I have trouble sitting, lying down, everything.
I was taking LIBRAX to help with the pain, but only had a week's sample. Wondering if anyone has experience with this drug.
I have also been suffering from severe backaches almost like a slipped disc, I find it's usually when i'm severely constipated, once my constipation has resolved i'm ok for awhile. I use ibuprofen and hot packs to my back that usually helps.
I have just read your post and rather than your back being related to your IBS, it sounds to me like the classic symptoms of sciatica. I recognise these symtoms well as I have suffered with this problem for the last two months.
Did the pain start on the lower right side of your back and does it travel down the back or side of your leg and into your calf and foot. If so, this is the course of the sciatic nerve. Is the pain very sharp at first, turning to a dull ache?
I should get this checked out, as it may be totally unrelated to your IBS.
I would suggest that alternative therapies could help you. Although I have suffered with sciatica, my problems are almost cured now following acupuncture treatment. I have also received chiropractic treatment too for a neck problem, but it has also benefitted the sciatica too.
Chiropractic is able to help IBS in some cases and acupuncture certainly would help you with any belly pain and other symptoms that you experience as a result of this.
