Flax Seed Oil is VERY Unhealthy... or is it?

I am big on fitness and working out and such and since the flax oil was doing a pretty good job, I didn't bother to look at the nutrition facts. Anyway, I took a look today and there is 14 grams of fat per tablespoon! If one imbibes four of these a day, like I do, one gets about 100% of his daily allotted fat intake. Its like eating pure fat. However, I heard that it's an essential fatty acid and is healthy. I'm not sure how this could be when it is simply fat that will probably go straight to the stomach. Also, I heard that high levels of fatty acids can cause sudden death, even though I am much too young to worry about that. Anyway, please help me sort out facts from myths. Thanks

Well it basically is fat b/c it's an oil. It's like taking vegetable oil on a spoon. My advice to you is just to cut back. You don't need to be taking 4 tbsp's a day! I was only taking one a day and it helped. I stopped b/c fiber therapy works a lot better and is far less expensive.

Hi JYS,
Flaxseed Oil is an essential fatty acid meaning ---your body needs it and it cannot be produced unless you take it by mouth. I agree with Angeline --you may not need that much. But, most fat on a person is produced by sweet/carbohydrates---not the calories you get from fats.
