Ginger tea is helping me...

My hairdresser gave me a ginger teabag which I tried and tho' it was a bit too burny for my throat, my stomach calmed down. So I went to the supermarket where she bought hers and I found organic golden ginger tea which is milder, doesn't burn my throat and makes my stomach feel so much better. You drink it 30 minutes before or after a meal (I drink it after). Now, this ginger tea isn't the cure-all for IBS but it helps - especially if I overeat (e.g., something delicious!)...by the time I'm done with the tea, my stomach feels ok. Some times I squirt a little fresh lemon juice in it (it's not horrible but it doesn't taste fabulous...just like boring tea).

I also have been helped by ginger tea. I found it just by chance and I like it. It has allowed me to reduce my amitriptyline to 10 mg./day. I'm considering ginger capsules.
I have an atypical IBS - I don't really meet the criteria. Cramping pain only at night (considered a red flag) starts after sleeping about 3 hours, stops if I stand up. No constipation or diarrhea. Had terrible side effects from anti-spasmodics. Amitriptyline lets me sleep through pain (sometimes if I wake up I notice it's still there.)
I think abnormal bowel motility is the cause in my case, and also may cause diverticulitis, which I had years ago. (I never had the usual presumed causes of diverticulitis.)
