my last job, i had one and half hour.
subway, and suburbs trains.
i was learning foreigners languages during this comute time.
was so good. Vocabulary, reading artikels of magazines in foreigners languages.
i never felt boring.
That's make a good use of the time.
like a good use of this time.
I spend about 50-65 minutes each way. It depends on the traffic on the interstate.
It used to be about 5 minutes..but...I have a job that I love and have had it for 23 years...then I met the man of my dreams and we are getting married in 6 months, so I have moved to him and now have the commmute.
i spend 15-20 min. walking and 8 min. on metro--not to bad for DC Metro area. My roommates drive, and it takes them roughly an hour every morning--I couldn't deal with it.
A good scooter or a small motorbike 125cc, and a good raincoat.
Or you ask professionals to equip it with a plastic roof. Don't cost that much, and means more confort.
You will save so much time.
You will save so much money.
5 times more oil efficent as a car.
And this fresh air shower every morning, gives you good mood at 9 am.
Their is this platform on the scooter, girls can drive it with a skirt.
It's like sitting on a chair.
If you really want to help the planet. If you really want to help the environment.
That's a real effort that will improve everything.
I mean the traffic congestion, the world oil consumption, the parking.
A car it's a one tone flat with four wheels, that moves a humans
that weight 75 kilos. We don't need that for comuting.

I have about a 20 - 25 minute ride on the subway, and about an 6 minute walk total. I suppose that's average for most in NYC though.

The great thing is I only have to do it six times a year ( I work four weeks on, four weeks off ).
Kevin.
I live 8 miles from my office. If I drive it takes 30 minutes if I avoid the tunnel or bridge which require toll payments and about 20-25 minutes if I pay a toll ($3 for bridge, $3.50 for tunnel). Of course if we have snow or a crash or what-have-you it takes longer.
If I take public transportaion -- bus, 2 subway lines and a shuttle it's about 45 minutes.
Okay, I live in Athens and it takes me too much time to get to work. It takes me almost 40 minutes becauzse this city is a mess and there is too much traffic. Plus, there is no subway near me
Well There are different types of work that take time . I take 10 minutes to Drive Car , 20 minutes to take bus and 45 minutes to walk . What about you people ?
It's about 20 minutes by car, 1.5 hours by bus, or 50 minutes biking.
If I stay at my mother-in-law's it's 15 min walk + 10 min bus ride, 10 mins by car, or 20 minutes biking there/10-15 back(It's all uphill going there, all downhill coming back!).
Interesting topic. It seems like most people live very close to where they work or very far. Not much in between.
I never thought about it until recently, but most of my coworkers live in the same town or another town close by so it only takes them 10 minutes or less to get to work. But I live a little farther. I live about 15 miles from where I work and it takes about 25 minutes to drive there in the morning, and 30-35 minutes to drive home in the evening.
In the suburb of a 14 millions people city.
1 hour 15 minutes with the subway and bus.
.
half an hour with the car (if no traffic jam). Monday and friday traffic jam. One hour and something. And car is very expensive. Must pay the tickets.
Must own a parking lot. Your nice cars get damage in this city.
.
Then i bought a 125cc, small motorbike, kind of scooter, 35 minutes.
so perfect. No need to own a parking lot. no traffic jam any more. And fresh air to breath in the morning.
