Kidney disease? 20 years old

Hi there, about a month and a half ago I started feeling like something was always under both my ribs and it has been persistently like this and it's really uncomfortable, I'm also always itchy at night and have been feeling really dizzy and lightheaded constantly. I've went to my doctors and they took my bloods and all that came up was that my potassium levels were slightly high. I've searched this up and it's related to your kidneys and I've also read about night time itching and other symptoms I've been feeling make me worried I have kidney disease. I'm to go back in to get my bloods retaken to make sure my potassium levels being elevated were just a one off. Do people think I could have kidney disease?

Hi

The basic blood work that they usually order would show your kidney levels, so if they said that the only thing off was your potassium level, then that's probably due from something else. I don't think your kidneys are the issue. The itching could also be related to high potassium levels. How high wete your levels?

Well the norm is apparently 3.5 - 5.0 and mines were 5.1 changed from the time before I had bloods taken when they were 4.5 that's why they wanted to redo them. Also when the nurse was trying to take my blood she was having trouble getting a vein so I had to clench my fist and then when she took the needle out the puncture wound was bleeding quite a bit so she told me it would bruise. Don't know if this has any impact in the slightly raised potassium levels

5.1 is not that concerning and I honestly don't think it's causing your other symptoms either. Maybe see a dermatologist for the itching. But, the good news is that I don't think your kidneys are affected at all. Good luck. Take care!
