Bloody Urine Still!!!

Hello everyone. I have posted on this board many times in the past. Now another one from yours truly. For about 1 1/2 years I have experienced a lot of RED urine. This sent me to many doctors and Urologists, plus every test known to mankind. Results NOTHING FOUND except A-Typical cells and blood.
Believe it or not my peepee has been all over the USA for testing and still NO confirmed results or NO reason for the blood. The blood stopped for approx. 6 months so I wasnt too concerned until this week. I had what I thought was an intestinal virus but after 4 days it subsided...then bloody urine again. Now I am wondering if it was an intestinal virus or just symptoms of more urine problems. Pain in back and stomach is almost unbearable. I will make another appointment with Urologist for next week to check it out again but if anyone out there has had similiar experiences please tell me about it. The only thing I can relate to is a daughter of mine passed a stone a few years ago after having pain, pain, pain...she was hospitalized several times. NOTHING was discovered in her many, many tests they took on her for stones and or whatever. She finally passed a stone, a large one at that, and passed it in the hospital during one of our emergency room trips. When I inquired as to why the doctors and tests showed NOTHING she passed the stone. The only explanation I was given is that certain stone compositions do not show up in the various tests. In fact the last urologist she seen advised me to take her to a phychiatrist!! Said it was mental!
Help if you can please and thank you in advance.

Re: Bloody Urine Still!!!

stones can lodge in certain places that will not be picked up on x-rays. At least that is what the doc told me when he went in to remove 1 stone and found 2. This is an excellent urologist and he always looks over the x-rays personally.

doctors must justify doing the surgery. If the stone cannot be seen or is not causing other problems or sufficient constant pain, they will not go in. For starters, they would have no idea where to go to for removal of something they cannot see.

some pieces of trivia I found interesting. Different instruments are used for different locations in the urinary tract. If a kidney is cut for surgery, a certain amount of function for that kidney will be lost. The scarring left behind following exploratory surgery can also create problems itself.

Re: Bloody Urine Still!!!

I have been through something very similar. It was discovered as microscopic hematuria, picked up during a urine analysis when I was in the military on a pre-assignment physical. Though no visible blood, like you, I was put through an exhaustive battery of tests, the least pleasant of which was a cystoscopy. After all these tests and numerous follow ups and consultations with various medical professionals, a Urologist told me what he attributed this to. Apparently when I was 18, a bout with strep throat may have been the culprit. I was told that the bacterial infection may have caused scarring in my kidney tissue, and under certain conditions (fever, exertion, stress, to name a few) caused blood to be excreted, though not visibly, only microscopically. Now after many years, I still have the microscopic hematuria (which I never knew I had until picked up nine years after my strep bout!) and it raises the eyebrows of the respective physician whose care I'm under. None the less, for the most part, this condition has never been a painful one, nor one that in my opinion, would have affected my life significantly. I hope you get an snawer to your questions and concerns. Good luck!
