Any stent removal stories? - Kidney Disorders Message Board

Stent removal on the 23rd. I'm getting nervous allready, I will be awake. What was it like for those who have had it done?

i was lucky because i didn't have to have a stent put in after all, but does your stent have a string or no string? i have heard, the string is a piece of cake, my doctor even told me, when i was supposed to have a stent in, that you might only feel a sting for a second or 2, but he said it's over just like that.

i really hope that's how it is in your case. i know you have been having such a hard time over this whole thing. i really hope everything works out for you.

for me...i'm starting to realize, either i'm not letting myself heal properly or something. i've noticed, i start to feel my bladder issues, most of the times, when i either shake my leg, move my legs while sleeping, or something, so now i'm starting to think, maybe moving my legs like that is distrubing the healing process. plus, i am anemic and overweight, so i think those have something to do with it too. i'm going back for a follow up though. but i will say this, even with what i'm feeling now, i can live with this....nothing like when the stones were in me.

and yeah...i'm now laying on my sides again! finally making progress with that!

No string on mine, they have to go in with cyctscope to get it. Which scares me.

ugghhh you poor guy. i had the string and it was a cake walk, just stung for a second or two. You should have demanded a string. I feel bad for ya like, ya haven't gone through enough already..

drink a ton of water so you don't have to go through this again.

I have allways drank a ton of water, 10 glasses a day minimum, im pratically a fish. So that does not seem to help me. I had no choice on stent they used what they thought was appropriate. I think I would have found the string very bothersome. I am afraid I would have caught it on something and dislodged stent.
