Having a cholic and kinda desperate

It started a few hours ago. My body is exploding and I've lost my nerve. Usually I manage to put a resistance but this time I just feel like letting go and cry, cry, cry. I'm having nearly one cholic a month. I keep expelling stones and forming then at the speed of sound. Nothing seems to work and this evening I would just like to bang my head against the wall and scream.
Sorry for this, ladies. it's just that sometimes you feel you don't know where to turn.

Carla, hey, it's me Andrea from the meno board. What's going on? I'm surprised no one here has answered you. Why are you producing so many stones so quickly? Has your doctor ran blood work to see if you are hypercalcium or whatever? Wow, I know how you feel just getting a kidney stone crushed myself and the pain is horrible, like being in labor without sedatives when it hits and trying to get the viocadin down and waiting until it works is even worse. I'm worried about you! What are the doctors saying about this?

Re: Having a cholic and kinda desperate

Hey Andrea, thanks for speaking to me...

Yes, I've been checked and re-checked. There is nothing abnormal in my blood tests or in the other exams..the diagnosis is my metabolism simply produces oxalates and they deposit in my kidneys. In the past year I've spoken to thousand of doctors - a lot of them kidney stones sufferers - and they just shook their heads and said there is nothing to do except diet and water. Which is what I've been doing in the past year with no result.
I did also some researches on the net but I didn't find anything inspiring.
In the past two days I've been feeling better, the cholics have subsided, I don't know for how long, though..
How big was your stone, the one they crushed?
Thanks again for lending me a voice..
Carla

Re: Having a cholic and kinda desperate

My stone was size 7 and they shocked me 2,000 times. I will not get the results from the stone back for another4-5 weeks. Wow, takes a long time! I remember when I was very young, I had blood in my urine and at that time they put you in the hospital. They ran all these tests and found that my magnesium level was so low. Have you had yours checked out? I haven't had mine checked out. But Doctors are forgetting this most valuable mineral. So I need to get my levels checked out. My doc didn't tell me what to eat and what not to eat, so I am taking my multi-vitamin which has calcium in it, cause with peri, I need the darn thing. So hopefully I'm not cooking up some more stones while I'm waiting for the results. Do you think I could take my mag/calcium mineral? It's called slow mag and it has 64 mg. of mag chloride and 128 mg. of calcium.

Re: Having a cholic and kinda desperate

Hey Andrea, I know what it feels like to have a 7mm stone. I passed mine with no lith two years ago and it sure hurt...
Regarding the calcium suplements, if I were you I'd wait until the result of the tests. Not all the stones are calcium oxalates therefore if, for instance, you have uric acid stones, you can take all the calcium you want without forming stones.
Relax, drink plenty of water and don't think about stones.
Are you still in pain? I remember that when I passed my "big" stone, my kidney has been sore for a long, long time. No pain, but a constant discomfort. I think it's pretty natural, after all you had a foreign guest for quite a long time...

PS: Are we two the only ones posting regularly?
