Hi blue...I'm very familiar with kidney stones. You can read my story titled "newbie here---but extremely familiar with kidney stones". People are different and the rate a stone can pass varies as well. For me, sometimes it can take up to 3 months. Sometimes, the stones just sit in the kidney and move around causing pain, but they don't come out. Drinking lots of fluid, especially water, will help. So will doing physical activity, as long as you can stand the pain. If the stone is too big to pass on its own or causing you too much misery, you may need to have it surgically removed. I can't believe they only gave you Ultram or Darvocet. You need at least some Vicodin. The pain can be unbearable when the stone is coming down and more than likely, you will end up in the ER for very strong pain meds (Morphine or Demerol). If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. After all, I'm the kidney stone queen. LOL
