Plz help me - Kidney Disorders Message Board

Hi

I am so much worried about my husband, doctor told him after the tests that 84% of protien is coming out from his kidneys instead of 25% .Its because of some genetic problems because my husband is taking care of his diet and weight, he exercise and walk regularly to maintain the weight. Although tests showed his controlled Sugar and cholestrol level ,still she gave him Lipitor and Altace...and she told him to check his blood sugar level 2 times a week......
I just want to know what are the right steps I should take, what are the foods he should or should'nt eat, and is this really a serious stage to have 84% protein in urine.....Can anyone plz plz help me to give me the answers....I shall be very grateful .......

hi rubina,
i dont have diabetes, but do have lupus. i have damage to my kidneys caused by nephritis.
i also am on lipitor. i am very thin, but my cholesterol is high. it can be a part of the chronic kidny disease.
i am not sure if there are any special diets, as i am not following one. they did tell me to
NOT TAKE ANY NSAIDS (TYLENOL, CELEBREX, ETC)
AVOID SALT (CREATES EDEMA)
TAKE MY BP PILLS RELIGIOUSLY.

we are dealing with two different issues, but together, it comes down to our kidney function.
i know as a diabetic, you need to be EXTREMELY careful because of diabetic nephropathy. it can lead to end stage renal disease, and possibly dialysis.
he needs to keep the sugar controlled. i do wish you luck, and maybe someone will be by soon to answer you better.
