Hello to everyone. I am not sure if anyone here knows anything about this, but if someone has kidney stones due to having medullary sponge kidney I would love to hear about it. I have been having kidney stones for about 6 years now, some I have been able to pass, some I have had to have uretoscopy to have them removed, and now I am having ESWL to have a couple of larger stones (7mm) blasted. I actually have 3 in my left kidney and 3 in my right kidney, but my urologist won't use uretoscopy again due to it being so invasive. So I will still have stones left when he gets done,(which I am not pleased with) as I have been told that with ESWL they can not image well enough the smaller stones. So I will most likely be in the same boat next year. I was looking at my x-rays and they had mentioned the above defect and I did some research and they have shown that it causes kidney stones to form. So I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this? I am planning on seeing a specialist in November to see if I learn anything different than what my urologist is telling me. He is starting me on Urocit K after my procedure and I am assuming hydrochlorthyzide as well...which will be lovely as I pee enough as it is...
I must say, I never believed that there were people out there that suffered with so many stones, with over 100 and up I do feel for you and my heart goes out to you all as I know how it is to pass a stone, not to mention what your lives are like being interrupted like they are. I feel like a baby for whining like I am for only going thru this for a few years...
I appreciate any help and advice anyone can give,
Thank you,
Denise
