severe pain and have questions - Kidney Disorders Message Board

Hi all...

I'm in such severe pain and hope someone can help. I woke up Thurs morning with a pain in my right side , above my kidney. It originally was worse with movement and tolerable when still, but now is a constant intense burning pain which is NOT relieved with pain meds. I can't point a finger to the pain, but is rather an AREA that extends from the kidney line upward to the shoulder blade and over to the ribcage under my right arm. Occasionally, I'll feel a squeezing sensation. It also seems to alleviate if I stand up. I went to the ER last night, urine was clear, no problems with urination and clear chest xray, so sent home with 600 mg ibuprofen which doesn't help.

Could this be a kidney stone? Any advice greatly appreciated--I'm miserable

It could be your gallbladder. When I found out I had gallstones, that's the same pain I had. I also had a clear chest x-ray. Finally had an ultrasound and found gallstones. I did not have gallbladder attacks like some people have, I just had a constant dull ache on my right side that would radiate to my back and up to my shoulder blades. I did not have surgery to remove my gallbladder, I did a gallbladder/liver flush. See if you can get an ultra sound.

That's the one thing I positively know its NOT..I had my gallbladder removed in April. This is more on my side and wraps around to my kidney area.
