epithelial cells in urine

Hi I am a 34 year old female with only one kidney. I have had a history of kidney stones and only had blood in my urine when I had a stone.

for the past week i've been having this pain in my right side flank and in my breast. It hurts really bad when i wake up. and the more i move the more it hurts. I went to the doctor today and they did a microscopic urine test and said that i have epithelial cells, rbc in my urine. no bacteria no cyrstals. that pretty much rules out the possibillity for a stone or infection.I have had kidney problems since i was 25 and never had this to come up, its all new to me.

the doctor was really concerned and said that i need more test done. I have tried looking it up on the net to see what i can come up with on the internet. but i don't understand it. I have an appointment with a specialist on tuesday. but was kinda of hoping to get some information before the appointment.

can anyone tell me what it means to have this in ur urine. I have had kidney problems since i was 25 and never had this to come up.

Re: epithelial cells in urine

Of course I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like some sort of stone or cyst to me, and not regular kidney damage. Kidney damage not caused by stones and growths is typically not that painful and doesn't usually shoot up through the body.

Good luck to you and I hope everything goes ok.
