Blood in urine, back pain or kidneys?

Ive been having back pains latley around my lower right side. Ive had some back problems before but never like this. Its almost like i feel like i need to twist and pull my back up to make it feel better so its not a horrible pain just a bit uncomfortable. Ive been to the doctor and she agreed it was my back and to just rest. It went away for about 2 weeks and then came back. I went back and they tested my urine and said i had 8-15 red blood cells, and didnt seemed too concered but said i should get some blood taken to make sure that its not my kidney fuction. She said i could come back later in the week to do it. But i have a HUGE phobia of getting my blood taken and almost pass out thinking about it. Is 8-15 blood cells unusull or alot? Im just scared there could be something seriously wrong with my kidneys but havent experienced any other symptoms other then feeling alittle dizzy latley but im also on adderall and it could be from that. If anyone has any information please let me know! Thanks!!

Re: Blood in urine, back pain or kidneys?

Blood in the urine isn't really normal. You should get checked for kidney stones because other types of kidney problems that cause kidney damage are not painful (iga, pkd, diabetic nephropathy etc). Kidney stones are very painful and the most likely.

Re: Blood in urine, back pain or kidneys?

I had this problem over the holidays. I would wake up an have kidney pains. I went to the doctor and had microhemituria. Blood in the urine, but I couldn't see it. Got sent in for a CT. CT revealed three cysts less than 1cm. Given an ultrasound. Ultrasound revealed that two of the small cysts are complex. At my last appointment with the urologist I was told not to worry about anything at the time, to follow up with another ultrasound in six months. My urine had no blood in it last time checked and I have not experienced kidney pain in approx 2 weeks. I am still very worried, and I do suffer from generalized anxiety disorder. Also the urolgist did a simple blood test to see how well my kidneys are functioning. I hate having blood drawn too but when i found out my kindey functing was normal it made me feel a lot better. Good luck.
