From personal experience, I would let them pass on their own. The ureter (the tube that connects the kidney with the bladder and through which all urine passes) is 3mm in diameter. Your stone mentioned will probably cause discomfort while passing through this area. Have some pain medications ready! The Lithotripsy works sometimes but is it worth the $12K and a day of agony? Any clue, as to what type of stone(s) that you have? Knowing this, could help in your decision also. There's always a chance too, that the stones will just rest in your kidney. All depends, on where they are now located. Bottom line, you don't want the stones to prevent urine flow for any length of time. So keep on monitoring your progress.
