I am at the very end stage of renal failure. My blood pressure is out of control. My question is: since the renal gland, which regulates BP, sits atop my kidney, is it bad also? When I get a new kidney, will I receive the gland from the new donor? If my kidneys are removed, what happens to those glands?
I've looked through every health book I can find. It may be an obvious, or stupid question but it's been on my mind.

The adrenal glands sit on top of the kidney and depending on the type of kidney disease you have, they probably won't be affected. I'm not sure if they transplant the gland or not, but I don't thing so. In most cases, once you get a transplant you will be on prednisone and your adrenals won't work properly anyway.
