Is it my imagination or has the diagnosis...

FSGS gone away? I went to the DNA (Dallas Nephrology Associates) website and didn't see anything on FSGS! I remember that the basketball player had this, but now it says he had CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease). So does that mean that FSGS is now being called CKD? That lumps all of the other specific kidney problems that people have together. My friend was asking me what I had the other day and she said she couldn't find much information about it. If it has changed to CKD, then no wonder! Now we have different stages of Kidney Disease? What is GFR? All I've really been told about my kidney disease, is to watch my creatinine level and my protein output. I think I can kind of remember that if you spill more than 1,000 grams of protein in a 24 hour period, then that causes more scarring of the kidneys? I could have this totally wrong so feel free to correct me. I got most of my information at diagnosis more than 8 years ago so my brain may not quite retain all the info. correctly!

Re: Is it my imagination or has the diagnosis...

Thanks for clearing that up. When I first got the diagnosis, I was able to find the information I needed fairly easy. I was on the brumley renal message board before it closed down and really benefited from reading all the different stories on there because we could read about people on dialysis and it seemed like there were quite a bit of people with FSGS.

I have my collection jug and plan to do that on Monday all day before going to the lab on Tuesday. My appointment with the nephrologist is on the 13th so I'm ready to go and get that out of the way.

I saw that you are getting your right kidney removed. I'm sorry to hear that and I hope your left kidney will keep working for a while before you go to the final stage. I do hope that you at least feel somewhat better after getting one kidney removed!
