Question Just a question

Hi everyone,
I've been reading through some of the posts here, and I pray for and along with all of you. I was recently told that I have decreased kidney filtration and to reduce the amounts of ibuprofen. I usually only take it once a month for my cramps, maybe two Aleeve at the most. A week and a half ago, I started to have nausea and vomiting. When I developed pain along the left side of my body and pain in my left calf, I went to the ER, got checked out, and sent home. I have also had high blood pressure on and off for a year and a half which I'm told just needs to be monitored. I'm a 43 year old female. My meds include Metformin, Wellbutrin, and Celexa. I had a weight problem (lost 50 pounds without trying), and I'm under alot of stress - I am currently taking care of my parents along with a teenage son, and a full time job. Last Friday I went to our clinic with more nausea, dry heaves and the pain has now increased in my kidney area, more between the kidney and bladder and around to my back. Again, nothing showed up but a bit of bacteria which they are feeling is the start of an UTI so they prescribed an antibiotic. I thought it was strange that the doctor said my urine was very diluted, and that I must have drank alot of water, right before I came. I had only had abou 16 ounces in the 3 hours. The pain is on and off, more annoying than anything. And I seem to be urninating alot more than I am taking in. Most of the time it is very clear, once in a while it is cloudy at the end. Due to the nausea, I haven't been able to eat or drink much at all. I don't mean to ramble, but everyone here seems so knowledgeable and I don't have anyone else to turn to. I certainly appreciate any suggestions anyone may have, or let me know if I am overreacting.

Thanks!!

Re: Just a question

Thank you for the quick response! No, I gave up my coffee and smokes 3 years ago. If I have one soda with caffeine, I don't sleep all night. They have done some x-rays and said nothing showed up. It's mostly been blood and urine work.

Re: Just a question

Just regular x-rays. Should they have done the CT scan?

Re: Just a question

May I ask, why are you on Metformin? I am on Metformin too for PCOS.

Metformin needs to be monitored with blood work and it sounds like you may be having side effects from it as well as stones. It can decrease kidney function without warning, especially if the stress levels change. How long have you been taking it?

Did they do any blood work? Any other change of lifestyle lately - perhaps more fast food or prepared foods (frozen dinners) because there is less time to cook on your merrry go round?

Re: Just a question

Hi,
One doctor thought it was PCOS. I've been on it for over 2 years now. I also have a long history of relatives that are diabetic. It seemed to help with the weight loss so they have left me on it as my weight gain had no explaination either. Last year my gallbladder acted up and that is also when I started to lose weight. I'm going to go back to the doctor this week and make them keep looking. I've been having regular bloodwork and they keep telling me everything is fine.

As far as my crazy life, the biggest chunks of stress are going away. I just got my Mom's house sold and found her an apartment. Now I will only have to maintain one house. I try not to do much fast food as my boyfriend is real gung ho about cooking at home. It's nice because we take turns. I do eat breakfast every day starting with a banana and usually whole wheat bread with peanut butter. Lunch is usually a smart ones meal and some fruit. Sometimes a salad. So I have actually been eating healthier as I was encouraged by my weight loss.

I give you all so much credit, you have so much going on with your own health and you take the time to help many other people. And the wealth on knowledge I have seen on these boards is just phenomenal.

Thank you so much.
