Well, my KUB showed that my fragmented stone is still in the lower ureter, hasn't even moved after 2 weeks after litho.

I was so hoping for good news today! We are going out of town on Saturday for 5 days and I told the uro that I don't want the stent in there when I'm on vacation.

He advised that they use a laser to go in and break it up more, but if I did that I'd have to keep the stent in for another week!

So, I went over the pros and cons in my mind and decided to get it removed.

I'm going in on thursday for followup.

I know I'm not done with this yet.

How big is it still. what he is describing can only be done on BIG stones or it is so advised. Sometimes smaller stones "retreat" when they are hit with the laser and head back to the kidney. Proceed with care and keep us posted.

He says it's about 1cm, but it was 10mm x 12mm before litho, so it's hard to say now because it's fragmented.

He was surprised that the stone made it down as far as it did! I told him, well, it took about 3 months to get there.

Rickysmom, My stone was not totally gone after two weeks and it actually showed up larger on the KUB at that time because it was so fragmented. I was really disouraged too. But, after another two weeks it was totally gone! I did not have a stent and the stone was in my ureter when they did the lithotripsy. Try not to get too discouraged. There is a good possibility that the rest will pass. It takes time. Hang in there. You might be pleasantly surprised soon.

Glowing, thanks for your words of encouragement. I just passed 8 fragments in one sitting! So this may actually be a good thing!

Allie, I definitely plan on enjoying my vacation and making the most of it before returning to my pitiful life! The uro is worried that I'm going to be away from civilization with a large stone in my ureter. Pray I'll make it through with no major problems!!
