is there anyway the doctor can tell what kind of kidney stone you have without the stone itself?

I spent my morning in the er finding out i have 3 stones, 2 are just siting in the kidney and one is moving which caused the trip to the er. I have never dealt with this before and i was wondering, is there anyway the doctor can tell what kind of kidney stone you have without the stone itself? The stone i have is 5 mm and im afraid that its going to pass and im not gonna have a clue. Or it might end up in the strainer but i wont notice it. i have no idea what i should be looking for.

The only way to know is with a 24 hour urine test. the metabolic disorder causing the stones will be diagnosed, thusdetermining what kind of stone you have.

you will prb see it if it is 5mm
some are clear looking like crstals when they first come out then darken when dry
some are dark ,tan and red
look on google for picture of kidney stones

Look for anything that looks like kitty litter -any color. This is your stone.
