ok back from docs.. - Kidney Disorders Message Board

It took an hour to get into the docs today and at least 30mins in the drugstore..
Anyway, he told me I have a pretty bad pelvic infection and that i'm spilling protein.
Great.
He told my ultrasound on my kidneys shows something is wrong with the right kidney. He wants me to come back after 2 weeks when i'm done all my antibiotics for the infection so we can talk about what to do with my kidney.

I'm not in for painful tests am I ?

He will probably start with an IVP which is a Cat Scan with constrast. The test only hurts for a minute. You will get a strange hot sensastion in your stomach but as soon as the test is done the pain is done. Just close your eyes, grit your teeth and sing to yourself Happy Birthday to me three times and it will be over.

Somepeople will get bad headaches afterwards so be careful what you plan to do after all this. The headaches will go away after a good night sleep. It has to do with the dye.

You should be fine, the test is not that bad at all. I am curious as to what he found as my renal anatomy is a disaster so I am sure I will be able to offer you some empathy and understanding, keep me posted.

i dont know but i do know that I have reflux and have had it for years. it started in my right kidney and now just recently in my left.
I also have a defect where my ureters are shaped like horseshoes so i get alot of infections.
