Q's abt kidney infection, stones and cyst

HI-I'm new and a little scared. Been reading a lot here & found you guys all have so much good info, was hoping someone could help me. I finally got up the nerve to post. Sorry it's long, and thank you in advance.
Female early 40's fairly good health.Thought I pulled muscle in my back but didn't remember doing it.2 dys later nausea/fever started & knew that didn't go w/it. Monday went to my PCP (who is an internist) who thought I had a kidney infection & stone(s) due to fever, blood in urine & placement of pain.(at that time I couldn't see the blood) Each time I give sample I'm told I'm severly dehydrated. Weird, b/c I carry h20 everywhere, and drink at least 64 oz every day. I am recording every glass of cranberry juice and water, but they still tell me I'm dehydrated. (something abt a lot of sediment in my urine--the more of it you have, the less hydrated you are...) SO, he gave me antibiotics & some pain meds. Day 5, Friday, had a little visible blood in urine, fever, pain so PCP sent me to ER for CT scan. They saw blood in urine,fever-but no stones were visible. ER doctor said I probably didn't have a kidney infection or stones, but probably had a muscle spasm in my back, so that's how he was going to treat it. YES, I probably do have muscle spasm after sitting for 4 hrs in a CHAIR in the ER waiting room, not able to find a comfy position. The discharge nurse told us I had kidney infection&probably uric acid stones, not visible on CT. I asked if there was any blood in my sample-she said "oh yes honey, you have a bad kidney infection and probably a stone" Handed me a strainer, scripts for muscle relaxer and nausea, and sent me on my way. Saw a urologist-I gave sample & he took one from my bladder(that was not a fun experience)found blood in it too. Looking at my CT films, he asked if they told me abt the cyst. Nope. The Urologist said it wasn't on their report, and along w/him being puzzled as to why they didn't mention it, he was not happy abt it. It's not large, but big enough it couldn't me missed. (I was so shocked I didn't even ask the size)
I did pass some sandy, whiteish-clear material into the strainer; one piece was bigger than the other sand.

SO, instead of freaking myself out more by surfing the net, I figured I'd turn to you guys who have been there&have tons of knowledge.

Bottom line: Why is he sending my urine out to be tested for cancer? What type or cancer? (I had a radical hysterectomey 7 yrs ago--Cervix is gone too) He's also going into my bladder next week to see if there's anything there. Is that necessary? What would be there that he'd have to take off while he's in there? I didn't do well when he used the catheter to get the bladder sample so he's putting me under general anesthesia for that. That's when he said abt taking something out or off while he was in there. Would he go up to my kidney & take the cyst off that way? Would it be something inside my bladder? Also-could this cyst be causing the pain? Thanks again so much for any help and info. I'm feeling better already.

Hi

I would think he would do this just to be sure. Not always means it is cancer.
Any lumps or bumps ,knots it is all good when they check them out.
Im no doctor however i would say it is better to be safe than sorry.I would think you will have to see what others have to say or ask your doctor.

Hopesprings2--thanks so much for your reply. I was hoping it's a "just to be sure" kind of thing, but I didn't even know there could be any lumps or bumps inside the bladder. I also wonder if he could take the cyst off going thru the bladder. And what type of cancer do they screen for with your urine? thanks again for your reply. Anyone else?

Whew! Big sigh of relief!! Thank you!! If at all possible I'd prefer not to have a surgical opening! (really-I'd prefer to not have it done at all-I guess it's the lesser of two evils...!!)
