chronic kidney stones????? read this!!!!!

if you have chronic kidney stones. I've had mine for 2 years. Have your doctor do a simple blood test (PHT) to look for calcium in your blood.I found out I have PARATHYROID DISEASE not as bad as it sounds. Check out (PARATHYROID.COM) not all doctors know to look for this. I hope this help's someone out there not to suffer as long as I did........GOOD LUCK

Re: chronic kidney stones????? read this!!!!!

Cookie D,
I have passed chronic kidney stones for 6 years, the last 3 years it's been horrible. I've passed over 180 stones. I've never heard of this parathyroidism (sp?). I've looked at the website and I feel like I have most of the symptoms. Almost all of them. It's crazy. My husband just looked at it and was like "wow!". DId you have any of the symptoms? Have you had the surgery? Was it calcium stones that you make? THey have told me different things, first that they were calcium and then that they were uric acid. Honestly, I don't know if they know anything at all. I've seen all kinds of specialist. My new urologist told me this may be something I just have to DEAL WITH for the rest of my life. I'm tired of living on pain killers and I'm tired of being in pain all the time. I owe so much money to my local ER. Any advice and input you have would be extremely helpful. How old are you , if you don't mind me asking? Im 25. The website said this is most common in older people but not uncommon in younger ones. Help? PLEASE.......

Re: chronic kidney stones????? read this!!!!!

Hi Michele
I feel your pain.If I were you I would have my doctor do a blood test to look for calcium in your blood.(parathyrin intact) (pht). My stones are calcium, normal is
10to65 mine is 100.7. I haven't had surgery yet I'm going for the sestamibi scan this week. I've been through 2 urologist and had a surgery that showed nothing.
I don't know why urologist don't do this test for people with chronic stones????
I also have most of the symptoms and live on pain pills I'm up to 15mg. of oxycodone when needed for pain. I don't know about you, but I was starting to think I was going nuts.(lol) I hope this helps you a little bit.....I'm 61 and the one think I do know is, no one should have to live in pain in todays world. Good luck and please keep me posted on your progress....

Re: chronic kidney stones????? read this!!!!!

Thank you so much for your input. It is HORRIBLE pain and I don't think any can understand unless they pass them. I too take the oxycodone(sometimes) for pain, I'm lucky if it works. I've had 2 months now where the pain was bareable and I stopped taking the meds for a while so I don't get dependent on them. Was working well until I had to go to ER again Saturday night and passed 2 stones. It's a bad situation because if you ask for meds they treat you suspicously because of people abusing meds yet, the pain is unbareable. For the test did you see a urologist-for the parathyroid or a endocrinologist (sp?)? I'm really hoping this is what it may be. I don't really want to have a surgery that involves cutting my neck open but, if it saved me from the fate of kidney stones for the rest of my life....I would be thrilled. It'll probably take me a couple of weeks to see a Dr but, please check back here periodically...we can update each other and if anything atleast you know you have an understanding and sympathetic ear here if you need it.
