kidney stent ? - Kidney Disorders Message Board

I will finally have my stent removed on monday the 24 the urolgist removes it there in his office. I want to know is it painful when they remove it or does it feel like when they remove a cather? Also does ur kidney and all stop bleeding once the stent is removed i had a urethascope procdedure done on 03/11 and im just now starting to feel a little better and am finally being able to hold down food. thanks for any replies

The actually procedure does not hurt that much, but about an hour after it comes out you will start to get spasms that I found to be very painful. I took hot showers whenever the spasms started and that relived them right away. You might want to ask your doc for some prescription pain relief. I used extra strength Tylenol and found I wish I had something more powerful. I also took a couple of days off work to heal. Also my stents where in longer than your my first one was for 3 1/2 months and second was for six weeks(for a total of about 5 months), I am not sure if that makes a difference as to how much it hurts when it comes out.
