Im 19 and concerned about BP related to the Kidneys - Kidney Disorders Message Board

I was thinking about this before, in regards to blood pressure and kidney disease. I am a bodybuilder and some medications make my bp rise so im always interested in this kind of topic.

Anyways, a bp of say 140/80 is not horrible, but its pretty high. Would a blood pressure of that directly relate to kidney disease, or if you had kidney disease, would your blood pressure be much much higher?

unfortunetly there are sooo many different things that can effect someones BPs that it would be very hard to say. tho the kidneys DO regulate your BPs by way of releasing a chemical called renin. usually,you end up with somelevel of actual kidneydamage before the actual kidney BP affect would really be an issue,you know what i mean?

if you are actually taking any meds that do affect your BPs it wouldn;t hurt to do some research on them and find out if they could also be affecting your kidneys in some level of adverse way too. but seeing your doc for regular bloodwork would really help keeping tabs on your overall kidney function,and your BPs too. becasue the way the kidneys are and how they affect the BPs,you can have a BP problem that is AFFECTING your kidneys or actually have a kidney problem that is AFFECTING your BPs. it is kind of strange but that is how they are. this is where regular checks and seeing your doc come into play. they would be able to tell you more with certain types of testing. hope i didn;t just confuse you more.
