I had my first kidney stone three weeks ago. When the dr went to put in the stent, the stone was within reach. He removed the stone, and put the stent anyhow. It was in for two of the most miserable days of my life. That was two weeks ago and the area around my kidney is still sore and achey -- especially in the morning.
The pain doesn't seem to be like the "colicky" spasm of the kidney stone, but more like some one kicked me in the side. Is it unusal to have this kind of lingering pain post-stent removal?

Unfortunately, the pain will last for a few days after the stent is removed. I was writhing in pain for about a week and a half after they were removed. It hurts a lot, but it does get better. I hope you feel better soon!
hi im new and im not trying to give out medical advice but i did work in a urologist surgicenter. u probebly know what a stent does alot of times they are calle a double j stent because they bend that way to thru ur ureters to ur kidneys to keep them open. the best thing to do is drink drink drink. and alot of warm baths plus and this sounds bad but it is also comforting to urinate in a tub of warm water then u can wash of. but drinking alot fluids seems to lubricate the stent. and the tub baths are very soothing hope this helps . eersca
Thanks for the great resposes / just what I so did not want to hear. Had stones removed Thursday, cannot belive the pain since and now you tell me Im for more of the same when they remove the stent tommorrow. Arghhhhhh
i had my kidney stent taken out last friday. i did have a lot of anxiety thinking this was going to be very painful after reading bloggs. the stent was removed in less than a minute with no pain what so ever. the best way to describe the feeling was like removing a very long tampon. two days after the stent was removed i am completely back to normal. believe me when i say no pain because i am the biggest baby.
