Concern about possible kidney damage

I haven't had any routine urine analysis done in ages and I plan on going very soon. I was reading another person in heres post and they stated that their RUA are within the normal range and the damage is only evident with an ultrasound?

If I do have severe kidney damage would taking vitamins and supplements exaserbate the condition? This alternative doctor I am seeing seems to think I have lyme disease I have really low IGG. I was reading how low IGG can be a sign of Kidney failure, leukemia among other things. He has me on a regiment for a bunch of supplements that's why I am wondering about them causing any damage

For a long time I've had excessive thirst, fatigue etc.. More recently I've been having Itching(tingeling) all over, muscle pains and aches, foamy tea colored urine, joint aches and pains, I've been extremely fatigued as well but at the same time I have a extremely hard time falling asleep. Pale white patches on my face are there as , Vitamin D deficiency as well. Although I don't get much sunlight, but still these things strike me as odd. General feeling of illness or malaise

I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck that at times are painful, which don't really go along the lines with uremia but still. I've also noticed,Many new broken capillaries lately.

Thanks

Re: Concern about possible kidney damage

It sounds like you need urinalysis and blood work done, and soon!!!!

Some of your symptoms sound like kidney problems - the itching, fatigue, and funny-colored urine, for one. The joint aches can be caused by Vitamin D deficiency, which can be caused by kidney disease.

Once your blood/urine work comes back, they'll have a very clear idea of what you should do next. It was a simple blood count that determined I had failing kidneys.

Don't panic - I was treated successfully. I don't need dialysis and I work a full-time job. I take a few supplements and medications, but I function. I'm not dying. But you need to find out right now what is going on with you!

P.S. I'm a big fan of alternative medicine, but in this case, I don't think it's working for you. An alternative doctor cannot treat renal failure. A nephrologist can, and quickly. It's good to balance your treatments between alternative and traditional doctors, for this very reason!

Re: Concern about possible kidney damage

this could also be signs of possible liver involvement as well as possible kidney. you really DO need to seek out an actual MD and just have some tests run on both kidneys and the liver too. my kidneys and liver both have heavy cystic damage but my labs(knock on wood) are still within the normal in all areas. very insane let me tell ya. but get that basic lab work and see where you are before doing anything more with your other practitioner. you just really do need an MD right now to help with this.

just where are the "broken capillaries",your face? if so, do any of them actually have like a tiny red dot in the middle of them? if there are, this 'can" be a sign of liver problems having to do with some blockage within the portal vein. my son had one when he was Dxed with a liver disease, thats why i am wondering.

there are some conditions/diseases that can and do affect both the kidneys and the liver such as polycystic kidney disease. thats what i have in those organs. its passed on from one of your parents,or can be spontaneously created too. is there any types of kidney or liver problems that you are aware of that have run thru your family at all?

i would just get to your primary doc for some actual blood work and a UA too. the UA will check for protien in your urine,an indicator of kidney disease that is usually present if you actually have some type of kidney disease. but make sure your hepatic labs are also done. please keep us posted as to what you find out. good luck, marcia

Re: Concern about possible kidney damage

A regular CBC (complete blood count) will show any unusual activity in your liver and/or kidneys, I believe. A urine test will show if there are elevated protein levels, among other things. It's the place to start. Once you get that back, the MD will be able to tell you what tests to get next.
