Is pain worse at night?

Hello again, I posted here a few days ago about uuurrrggg kidney stones! Anyone that has kidney stones, do you hurt especially at night when sleeping? It is very excrutiating trying to sleep at night lately, especially turning from side to side, my back hurts so bad, and I have to grab the mattress just to get turned over, and nearly in tears. So please if anyone expierences this let me know, thanks so much!

Re: Is pain worse at night?

This is all quite normal with a kidney stone or stones. The more one thinks about the pain, the worse it usually gets. Find a good pain medication to get you through the bad times. Do find out where the stone resides (or stones reside) and what size, with a CT scan. In the meanwhile, drink plenty of water! Maybe it will pass before your next doctor visit. Do post with any further updates. Good Luck!

Re: Is pain worse at night?

I have had kidney stones 4 times, so i know that pain your going through. It doesnt necessarily have anything to do with what time it is. the pain comes when the stone passes into the urinary tract, The pain contuinues as the mucsles in the ureter try and pushhh the stone into the bladder. Thats whats happening when you have the pain, nothing to do with the time.
