Proteinuria - Kidney Disorders Message Board

Hi,

does the presence of heavy (nephrotic range) proteinuria accelerate the progression of chronic kidney disease, CVD and CAD?
Is there anything (besides pharmacological therapy) that might reduce proteinuria? Do the kidneys leak progressively larger amounts of protein indefinitely, or is there a level at which the protein loss "stabilizes"? How will this affect the body's albumin levels?

I have severe (previously uncontrolled) hypertension which is the result (or a cause) of my kidney and other issues. It has been well controlled for a couple of years and my kidney function has been good. The initial and subsequent renal angiograms have shown ischemic damage. A renal biopsy is scheduled for next week. Hopefully, it will give some insight as to what might be going on. It seems rather strange as there has been no change in kidney function. Are there any other (non-renal) factors or conditions that can result in protein loss?
