my bestfriend/gf has end stage renal disease.. she recently was hospitalized.. they say she has sepsis. i didn't know what that was, so i googled it.. and i've been scared to death ever since.

she lives in michigan and i live in new york, don't have the funds to go see her like i want to but we've been trying to keep in contact via text message and email.

she told me they said it's her right kidney causing the problem so last night she had surgery to remove it.. her sister told me that she made it through surgery about 10 last night.. but that's the last i've heard from anyone.

the last text i got from her was at 7..it said i'll be fine i promise.. maybe i watch too many movies or something.. but nothing ever good happens when something like that is said. i didn't even want to go to sleep in fear i'd wake up single.

have any of you known someone who's overcome sepsis and was ill prior to being diagnosed with it? am i right for being terrified right now?

this is killing me..
help please..

My husband had sepsis twice.The first time was the end of Aug in 2006.Antibotics were given and he recovered quickly.When they first said that he had sepsis he wasn't even able to talk.So if your friend is able to communicate with you then that is a good sign that things will be okay.The second time he had sepsis was the middle of Oct.2006.He wasn't given the antibiotics on time because they chose to do dialysis first.He died two days later after suffering heart failure.I'm sorry if I have added to your worry but I have been at both ends of this.The second time I wasn't worried because he had done so well the first time.Try to keep good thoughts.My best wishes to you.
