Professional Advice Needed - Kidney Disorders Message Board

Can anyone tell me if a combination of Vicodin, Dihydrocodeine and Alcohol can cause an acute kidney Problem. Been in intense horrible pain for 2 days. Doc tested urine and found blood and white cells and proteins. He says I may have a Kidney Stone or an infection. Put me on 7.5/750 Vicodin ES and heavy duty antibiotics. Drew alot of blood and did x-rays. Follow up visit in less than 48 hours. Problem: I did not feel comfortable telling him that this al started after I'd taken 20 MG of Vicodin, 180 Mg of Dihydrocodeine and alot of alcohol all at once. Could this Kidney infection/stone just be coincidental or did I cause a problem with such foolish drug/alcohol abuse. Is it imperative that I tell him about the night it started and how I'd taken drugs? I will never drink or drug again. I've learned my lesson. The pain of this Kidney stone/infection is intolerable. I am worried that by withholding the drug abuse info that he could misdiagnose a drug overdose as a kidney stone or something. I am confused.

If you are in acute pain, you could go to the emergency room of a hospital. They will be able to help you in some way.

Medical care even when your there in person is not one hundred percent accurate.
Yes, you should have told your doctor everything. Yes, you might have influanced his diagnosis. And yes, you should go back to see him as soon as possible.

If you are in acute pain, you could go to the emergency room of a hospital. They can inject a dye and using x rays or mris to determine if you in fact have a kidney stone.
