 In's & Outs??
Can anyone tell me is there a rule of thumb for "what goes in must come out? I have had severe pitting edema for over 2 yrs which has been resistant to diuretic treatment. I was on up to 800 mg of diuretics (Lasix 400mg and Aldactone 400 mg) daily and found I was drinking more therefore peeing more. I went to Mayo in Jan. and was advised to discontinue the diuretics or I would have no kidney function in 1 yr. I am off them since Jan. I have restricted my fluids to between 16-24 oz daily also diet for sodium however I am still pooling (all over). I have discovered that if I drink more than 24oz of fluids I am gaining and swelling more. I am going back to my PCP on the 28th and she is refering me back to a Nephrologist but I can't help but be concerned. Can anyone advise me?
