Hi Phee
FOZ - PN is basically open surgery to remove a stone that they are not able to blast with Lithotripsy, usually because it is too large, but can be for many reasons.
PHEE - I had a percutaneous nephrolithotomy in October of last year to remove a partial staghorn stone. The procedure itself went well and I was presented with my stone in lots of little bits in a test tube - why..?..who knows.
Anyway, I did have a dull ache for a long while afterwards and my stomach is still numb in places. However, the dull ache did eventually subside and I was signed off by the doc with a note to return in 12 months for another IVP just to check nothing has re-formed.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'welling' - can you explain? Did you have any further tests following the surgery (24hr urine collections etc) to diagnose the cause of your stone(s)? What were the results...?
Not sure what I can offer in terms of advice but you are the only other person I have known on this board to have had the same as me, welcome to the club!
