Back or kidneys? - Kidney Disorders Message Board

About a week and a half ago I noticed a slight "sensation" when urinating above my right "love handle" towards the back. I wouldn't call it painful but just uncomfortable. It comes just as I begin urinating and hasn't changed. The past few days my lower back has had a dull kind of ache but I do a lot of physical labor so I don't know how to tell what it is or if it is related.
My urine seems normal, no cloudiness, no visual signs of blood, normal frequency. I haven't had any other symptoms of an infection (fever, nausea, burning urination) just that strange feeling and my back ache. Could this be a mild infection or am I just being a hypochondriac? I suspected kidney stones but everything I've read describes extreme pain and other symptoms. Any one ever have this?

If you have no other signs of infection, then this is likely just to be a muscular strain from overuse, which is not abnormal if you do hard physical work.

I would not worry too much. Rest up a little and see what happens.

If it is a bruised and aching type of soreness, then try taking some Arnica or rubbing some Arnica cream into your back. This should help.

Thank you for the prompt reply. The dull pain is unlike any back pain I've had before.
Can you inflame or injure your Kidneys by doing back intensive work or working out at the gym?
I made an appt. with a Urologist for Tuesday. If my symptoms remain the same and do not worsen, do you think it is okay to wait until then? Again, the back soreness and strange sensation when urinating are my only symptoms at this point.
