blood in urine/ high protein in urine - please help! - Kidney Disorders Message Board

I am a 53 year old women, average weight, and fairly healthy. In the summer of '07 I went to the gyno and found that I had 2 tumors behind my uteris. They were not malignant, and they successfully removed them as well as my uterus. In the Fall of '08 I had blood in my flem, and coughed up some blood. I went to the doctor and they believed I had pneumonia, although they were not sure. I also had adema in my calves and feet, although it did not last long (about 2 days). Occasionally my tongue will swell up and I accidentally bite my checks, and for awhile I had rashes on my arms. Ever since this happened I have been to the doctor many times. At a point I was even going weekly. I just received back results saying that I have high protein in my urine as well as microscopic blood. My cholestrol levels (and HDL and LDL) levels raised greatly too. I had an appointment planned for weeks ahead, but the doctor called and told me I have to come in Monday. I am very worried and am asking for answers. Also, I drink some, and my father passed away from lung cancer recently. Any help would be greatful!

I actually did have uterine cancer with surgery about 5 1/2 years ago. I'm certainly glad that your tumors turned out to be benign. Did they take your ovaries along with your uterous? My overall cholesteral has risen as well and I think it is, in part, due to losing the protective factor of estrogen and the weight gain that also ensued from my lack of estrogen. If you kept your ovaries and/or were able to take replacment estrogen then that is not the issue with you.

This post is a little older so you must have been to the Doctor already. I hope you have some better answers to your questions and concerns. Health issues are so stressful and especially when problems seem harder to diagnose. I wish I could be more helpful.
