| Re: protein in urine
i am just wondering about the way your labs are typed out here? this cannot be the actual way they were on your lab sheet can they? do you actually have your own copy of your lab sheet in your possession? if you can, type out just what these numbers were PER that sheet. these types of labs, to my knowledge just are not ever written in only mgs. the standard way for like the creatinine to be written would be mg/dl, with the normal range being between 0.5-1.3mg/dl. so that 50 really does not make too much sense, unless it was actually 5.0 perhaps? and that would be out of range or higher than the norm. the albumin would be between 3.5-5.0 g/dl. what exact ratio is the last one, the calculated A/G ratio? that norm is 1.0-2.2 .
the fact that you have had repeated protein show up in your urine is usually indicative of some form of affectation or disease process going on within your kidneys. have they referred you to a good nephrologist to just have you evaluated by one? only because of the way the labs are typed out here i really cannot say just what is going on with them at this point, you know what i mean? if you do have that copy(if you don't you really do need to start keeping them for your own medical files), if you could just type out these labs and also what your actual GFR is too? this also would have been tested along with the other ones too. this is the glomular filtration rate that just shows how well your kidneys are still filtering. at the very least with that one, it should be above 60. it would show like >60 ml/min/1.73m2, at least that is the way it shows on my lab sheets. but even tho i also have a kidney disease,my GFR is actually >80. very strange type of kidney and liver disease i have.
but seeing a good nephrologist is just something you will need now as part of your ongoing healthcare team so you can keep those kidneys monitored in the very best way. i have a neph but because my labs have not gone out of range yet(they will tho), i see him rarely to consult on certain things since my primary can do the needed bloodwork and refer me for yearly ultrasounds. also obtaining an ultrasound wouldn't hurt either. it just would just show what your kidneys are looking like in there too.
but if you can type out the actual labs as written on that sheet, it would really help me to try and help you in the best way. they are just a bit confusing up there, lol. there are also other people on this particular board who know alot more than me about them. Marcia
