Really upset - Kidney Disorders Message Board

I have had kidney stones forming every three weeks since january. I have had three cystopies and three lithotripsies and my gallbladder removed. I have seen a neprhologist and a urologist and i am drinking a gallon of water a day and 24mg of hctz per day. I had my last cystocopy last monday and I already have a 9mm stone in the right kidney.

I just dont know what to do

Has your doc. made you do any 24 hour urine samples? Where you collect all your urine for 24 hours, then they analize it to be sure theres not something else causing them, because there are lots of meds they can put you on to prevent the stones if they know whats causing them.. I know your frustrating Ive had stones 4 times and the doctors have no idea why. They might also but you on a diaretic which makes you pee a lot therefor whiping out any stones before they have the chance to form.. I dont know what kind of medicine your on already but thats another option

Thank you for your reply. I have had a 24 hour urine but I kicked my other doctor to the curb yesterday and the new doctor wants to repeat the test and see if the hctz is helping and what else needs to be added. I am hopeful now that i am going to get better. I have also learned old doctor cant measure the stone is not 9mm it is 13mm so out it comes on Friday.
