kidney stone agony

I had never had a kidney stone before, so I didn't know what was wrong w/me. For a week I thought I pulled something in my back. Finally, I went to the doctor. My doctor thought it some kind of infection, so he out me on antibiotics & pain meds. Both did nothing to help me. 3 days later, I was in such agony, that my left leg was locking up. I went to the ER & they said I had a small kidney stone it would pass.
They gave me flow max & I still took the antibiotics. A week passed & I started feeling better, little by little. Somehow I must have passed the stone, but didn't see it in the strainer. I just knew the pain was going away & my nausea was easing up. It's been over a month now & I feel better than I have.

The problem is, that I still feel flank pain on my left side. One day I'll have no pain at all , then on a random day I feel pain & discomfort.

Did I pass the stone? Or is it lingering in another spot?

Re: kidney stone agony

same thing happened to me and i ended up still having stones in my kidney that are still there.. 2 4mm in left midpole and 2 2mm right kidney.. you should have a ct scan to make sure.. my kidney stones pain started 12/31/11 and im still having issue iv tried everything lemon juice i drink a gallon of water a day and still i cant get them to come out so they can pass..now im trying renavive i found a site online for that just started it 3 days ago and i cant say it solved the problem or has disolved them but i feel better than i did a week ago" i still get pain in flank area but not to bad.. i just wish they would come out and the urolisist wont do anything because he said they are not big enouhg.. crazy part is about a month ago it got so bad i thought i was having a heart attack so i went to hospital found out my pottasium levels where at 1 and they are to be at 3 and er dr said kindey stones are not related to that problem , which i find funny because i had no problems till these kidney stones came about.. im tired of these stones being in my kidney and specialist telling me i will not have any pain unless the stones are moving or passing.. such bull i ended up at the RE first time for pain in kidney yet notyhing was moving or passing or blocking them.. i dont know what to do or think anymore and i really belive Doctors who do transplants with the heart liver work on the brain can for sure take care of 4 stones in the kidney but my gut feeling is the insurance co dont want to pay.. why else would they allow me to suffer? Its sad and i just dont know what to do anymore.

Re: kidney stone agony

Thank you for sharing your story. I feel terrible for you. I wish you weren't in so much pain

I've only been hurting for a month & I'm miserable. I will make an appointment w/the doctor & get checked out again!

Take a little of the Alka Seltzer Heartburn (it has no aspirin!) or Alka Seltzer Gold. This will help to alkalize your urine and your kidneys will love you for it. See if your pain goes away. At least, you'll have no stomach acid problems! Post again if this works or not. Hopefully it does the trick!

Re: kidney stone agony

Carriemcdow, My older urologist once suggested to me to drink a 24 oz beer to get one of my stones out, the beer was very nasty but I did get over half of it down and passed my stone that night but it was a small 2mm stone. He said don't become a drunk just 1 or 2 of the older beers Not lite and not the near beer that doesn't have alcohol in it.
