Flank pain after ureteroscopy and stent removal

I had a 7mm kidney stone lodged in my right ureter for almost two months, then I finally had a ureteroscopy done to remove it, I had a stent placed for a week then had it removed. Every since, I have been having these random short lasting flank pains only on my right side. Is this something to be concerned about? could my ureter possibly be scarring? I didn't think I would still be having any kind of pain. kind of worrying me.

Re: Flank pain after ureteroscopy and stent removal

With every stent that I have had I always have rebound pain once it's removed for a week or two. Mild pain is normal. If you start feel really sharp pains where you are doubled over....then you may have developed a stricture (which can happen after procedure). My stricture was so severe a stone started forming on it....which completely obstructer my left ureter. I felt like I was dying I really did. that was the worst pain ever. They had to put a stent in through my back and a nephrostomy which was embarrassing but helped relieve the pressure and pain from my hydrnephrosis kidney. So I always say go with your gut. How severe is the pain? Mild to Moderate maybe just call your doctor. But if it gets up there to Moderate to Severe....go to the ER. Wish you luck!

Re: Flank pain after ureteroscopy and stent removal

Thank you for the reply! That's what I am worried about is the whole stricture thing or that maybe peices of the stone are still inside but Idk about that. I don't know much about the stricture, but I know it can happen, and this pain is worrying me. Unfortunately, I do not have insurance anymore so I can't go to the Drs right now, but I called the Urology office I went to and told them I was still having pains and they said they wanted to do an urogram, not really sure what that is either, but obviously I can't get it done right now The pain luckily hasn't been severe, not yet at least. I've had to take a couple pain meds a few times. It almost feels like spasms maybe. sometimes I get them around my side sometimes its where my kidney is and sometime I can feel it in stomach It's been a month since the stent. I thought this would be done with! Feels like this is never going to end....
