18 year old with low bun/creat ratio

I'm a 18 years old female and my blood test came back:
BUN: 9
Creatinine 0.80
BUN/Creat Ratio: 11.3 - low (referance range 12.0 - 20.0)
WBC: 4.5

Three years ago my blood test was:
BUN: 11
Creatinine:0.62
WBC: 5.6

I'm not anemic, eat the right amount of protein, and am in average shape.
Do you know what this could mean?

Re: 18 year old with low bun/creat ratio

Your numbers look fine. The difference in the test could be due to something as simple as not being as well hydrated for the blood test. Next time you have blood drawn, make sure you drink a lot the day before. This will give a more accurate reading. Try not to worry too much.

Re: 18 year old with low bun/creat ratio

Actually low BUN and Creatinine values are not indicative of a dehydrated state, ever. For your age and sex, your BUN and Creatinine are very good, and expectable for a healthy, young woman. Creatinine will usually measure lower for females than for males, based on lean muscle mass being proportionately lower for the former.

Re: 18 year old with low bun/creat ratio

I was talking about the difference in creatinine between the 2 tests. The elevation could be due to mild dehydration.

Right. No disagreement there.
