| test results questions?
Hi, I'm a 40 yr old woman w/ a history of occasional kidney stones. Lately I have had left flank plain and recurrent UTI's that are only briefly helped by antibiotics. My Dr ordered a renal ultrasound that showed mild prominent extrarenal pelvises, esp on the left. Also showed left medullary sponge kidney and possible partial UPJ stenosis also on the left. I than had a CT of abdomen and pelvis that showed small non obstructing calyceal calculus on left lower pole and the same on right upper pole. Numerous phleboliths were also seen in the pelvis (right and left iliac wings, sacral ala, and pubis ramus). Nothing else abnormal was found. Sent to Urologist who ordered a Lasix renal scan that showed no obstructions and normal wash out. He also ordered a whole body bone scan w/ SPECT to look for the sclerotic lesions previously found. This test came back fine. So my questions are- could these just have been kidney stones that passed w/out me even knowing? Upon my first follow up appointment the Urologist said no signs of kidney stones were found. I'm currently on yet another dose of Cipro due to another UTI and experiencing quite a bit of flank pain on both sides. Has anyone else had an experience like this where abnormalities are found but than just disappear upon further testing? I have another appointment this coming friday but would like other peoples perspectives about this. Thanks!
