Swelling and "denting" as precursors?

I have noticed that my legs, both upper and lower halves, seem to "dent" rather readily, which seems to have gotten more noticeable in the past couple of months. For example, if I cross my legs, I will leave an indentation of the seam of my shorts on my thigh, and a deep, red spot. Also, after taking off my socks, I will have a mark on my ankle area for some time afterwards. My weight seems to fluctuate by several pounds a day. I can go from about 154, to as low as 149, upon awakening in the morning-always thirsty.
I urinate a lot, maybe fourteen or more times a day, and always rather dilute-I do drink about 2-3 liters of water a day. My kidney numbers, as well as electrolyte numbers, so far, have been well within normal. I have another blood test at the end of the month, so kidney function will be measured again. Oh, yes, I have a constant metallic taste in my mouth, which has been present for several months.
