Question Grade 4 kidney reflux and kidney function

Hi
I'm 18 now but when I was 14 months old I was taken to the royal children's hospital after having several UTI's and I was very sick with a fever of 41.7. The doc told my mum I had grade 4 kidney reflux and scarred kidneys.
I have only just a few days ago been fully discharged from hospital but my kidney function is well one of them is on about 37% and the other about 42% so my question is what is the normal function percentage? Is it 100% per kidney or 50% per kidney?? When I decide to have kids when I'm in my 20's do they have a risk of inheriting the problems I have?? And what are possible health risks I will face when I'm older.. I'm also hypoglycemic.

Re: Grade 4 kidney reflux and kidney function

Do you have a nephrologist (Kidney doctor)? These are questions you need to ask him/her. There are nephs who specialize in pregnant women with kidney problems, so it may be possible to conceive and have a child. But it probably won't be easy. As for how much function in each kidney, that I have no idea about. Sorry.

Best of luck to you.
