Kidney pain is usually felt in the "flank" which is above the waist and to the side of the spine. It can radiate into the abdomen or into the groin. If you gently pound that area with your fist, it will be very tender, or paunful with a kidney infection. It is possible for a kidney infection to develop if the antibiotic is not the right one for the germ involved. I would get rechecked with a urine exam and culture/sensitivity if urine shows high white cells.
