| | Incidental multiple kidney cysts
So, I followed the advice of some sick friends and am making a medical binder to take with me to my specialists. In gathering my records, I came across a 2 year old abdominal CT with contrast report that said that I have multiple kidney cysts. I was being scanned for potential pancreas issues. I went to see my PCP and she said, don't worry, a lot of people probably have them and never know. I said, so it couldn't cause my low back/kidney pain and she said she doesn't think so. Can someone familiar with these let me know "reality"? I know the Drs mean well, but I'm the one who's in pain and wondering why...
Here's the "meat" of my report:
"The kidneys are notable for multiple cysts including exophytic cyst upper pole left kidney measuring 11mm, exophytic cyst lateral anterior left kidney measuring 15.8mm, cortical cyst anterior mid right kidney measuring 11mm and a posterior upper cortical cyst on the right measuring 10.3mm."
So, what's my question: Would something like this be able to cause me pain? I've said for a few years that I thought my kidneys hurt. I've had interstitial cystitis in the past and have had multiple kidney and urinary tract infections. Does it seem serious enough to get another scan or see a urologist?
Thanks in advance!!
