Numb leg after thr-help - Knee & Hip Problems Message Board

I had my right hip thr May 15 and when I woke up from surgery my left thigh area was totally numb..My doctor said that he had my leg in a clamp during surgery and it will take a little time to get the feeling back because he said that he had pinched a nerve with the clamp and it would take time to heal..After 2 months I went to a neurologist and he said that it might go away or it may not..I was just wondering if anyone else ever had this problem? My hip replacement is doing great it's my other leg that really bad..

Is your entire thigh numb, or just an area around the incision......even a fairly wide area? I had my partial hip replacement 18 months ago and still have an area, about the size of my hand, that is quite numb. In time you get used to the feeling! I no longer think much about it, or even wonder if it will go away.

I had my surgery on my right hip but my numbness is my left thigh..Its from the clamp they put on me so I couldn't move...
